A Day in Miami

Miami Hot- Spots Florida’s metropolis at its best

1 The Setai
Miami Beach Actors, models, designers – they all love the oceanfront luxury hotel. Behind the restored facade of the hotel built in 1938, Miami’s Art Deco meets purist Far Eastern esthetics. There are three pools and just as many restaurants, such as The Bar & Courtyard. After a romantic dinner outside on the patio, guests can enjoy an evening of live music here. www.thesetaihotel.com

2 Miami Beach Cinematheque
An unusual art house cinema, where, among others, 16 mm films and very obscure films are shown. Refined atmosphere with a French touch. Francophile retro existentialism! www.mbcinema.com

3 The Wynwoold Building
Centrally located in the Wynwood art district is THE WYNWOOD BUILDING, which opened in 2012 and is completely covered with a psychedelic black and white striped design. The approximately 45,000 square foot property includes office space, studios, agencies, publishers, retail stores and galleries. Among the creatives living here is Van Alpert, one of the rising stars amidst the young artists. www.wynwoodbuilding.com

4 National YoungArts Foundation
The former Bacardi headquarters, built in 1963 on Biscayne Boulevard, was redesigned by star architect Frank Gehry and converted into a center for contemporary arts. The complex holds exhibition space, a theater and apartments for young artists from around the world. Its epicenter is the YoungArts Gallery, where exhibitions and performances take place. It has quickly become a huge success. www.youngarts.org

5 Optical World
For a power shopping spree, the popular Dadeland Mall in the Miami suburb of Kendall is well worth a trip. It’s a very large mall with all the well-known stores and boutiques that carry upscale brand names, including Optical World with its selection of luxury and trendy eyewear. Naturally, Optical World’s range of collections includes: Silhouette’s latest models! www.simon.com/mall/dadeland-mall

6 Seaspice
Chef Angel Leon is at the helm of this sophisticated seafood restaurant, the top hot spot restaurant in Miami. The signature creations of this culinary angel are truly heavenly. The waterfront restaurant with stunning views is located on the banks of the Miami River. In addition to fresh fish, Maine lobster, prawns, oysters, clams and mussels, guests love his extraordinary salad creations with such ingredients as watercress, celery leaves, radish strips, roasted carrot slices and a wonderful lavender dressing. www.seaspicemiami.com
